Water Collection System full of water and ready to use!

Ryan Wells and Matthew float talk

Mother Nature worked a little of her magic with the recent rains to our area and we reaped the benefits with water in our collection system.  Ryan Wells, pictured above, along with Matthew, explained the floatation device that indicates water level in both 5,000 gallon tanks.  There is gravity feed from the Station 803 building that runs any kind of water from the roof, including morning dew, into the system and it can then be pumped to a fire fighting vehicle needing water.

The PFD Auxiliary currently has a campaign running, Catch and Match, to put a water collection system in at each of the three PFD stations.  The bigger the roof – the more water you collect in a shorter amount of time.  If you have an interest in any aspect of this endeavor, please contact the Auxiliary at pfdauxiliary1@gmail.com or by calling Station One at 512-264-1476 and leaving a message for the Auxiliary.  We welcome your input and support – we couldn’t do this with our wonderful community members!!
