Congratulations Spicewood Fred!

Congratulations to longtime Spicewood resident Fred Paul, on winning the raffle for the guitar autographed by Willie Nelson. Fred’s parents, A.L. (Lee) Paul and Mary Paul, served as EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technicians) in Spicewood years ago. How appropriate for Fred to win it!

And here’s an interesting story on the Willie Nelson signature on the guitar. When Willie went to sign the guitar, a peculiar wrinkle occurred. The pen he had was not working properly when he started to sign, as it wasn’t bright enough on the guitar. He tried to wipe it off, as noted in the above photo. Someone obviously assisted him in replacing the pen. He wrote “Love” over the small smudge, and signed his name underneath it. Thank you Willie!

THANK YOU SPICEWOOD!
What a wonderful evening we enjoyed on September 25 at the Firehouse Feast!
The outpouring of love of each individual that volunteered, donated funds and goods is so appreciated! And a huge thanks to the Spicewood community that came to eat delicious barbecue from Texas Firewalkers and sides from Thundercloud Subs, dance to the music of Kim and her Bad Habits, purchase raffle tickets for an autographed Willie Nelson guitar donated by Musicians Woodshed, and bid on our live and silent auction with donations from local businesses.

The Firehouse Feast at the Firehall last weekend wasa resounding success! What community support we have!

Our wonderful volunteers – what would we do without them? Here’s one of them guarding the brand new Fender guitar Will autographed for us and the Rich Beem golf clubs!

Great Taste of Texas donated the majority of the vegetables for the meal. They are always willing to go the extra mile for us!
2015 Firehouse Feast – What goes good with BBQ…..homemade desserts of course!
The annual Firehouse Feast fundraiser will be on October 10, 2105 from 5:30-9pm (with food being served from 5:30-7:30pm). We are looking forward to see what desserts this wonderfully supportive community has to offer this year! Please go to Volunteer Spot (button below) to sign up and thanks in advance for helping us!
One Water Collection System Up and Running!
Thanks to all the support from the wonderful community we live in, the purchase and installation of the Water Collection System at Station 3 on Paleface Ranch Road is complete! Each tank holds 5000 gallons and all the rainwater and dew from the roof of Station 3 will now be collected and used to fill tankers with water during a fire.
We are now going to concentrate on raising the money to put in a similar system at Station 1 on Bee Creek Road. Willie and Annie Nelson started this campaign off with a thousand dollar donation in 2013. We are still running our Catch and Match campaign – help us raise money to install the system to CATCH the much needed rainwater from the roofs and MATCH Willie and Annie’s donation! The support from the community has been very encouraging! The Pedernales Fire Department has three stations, and it would be ideal to have such a system in place at all three stations.
How can you help? Attend any of our events, either by being a volunteer or by just participating, or by making a tax deductible donation to the PFD Auxiliary (we are a 501c3 organization). It ALL helps!!!!

The FALL FROLIC was a huge success!!
This event would not have been so successful if it weren’t for the SPONSORS!!
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the many SPONSORS who help us each year in so many ways! This community is famous for taking care of it’s own and we are very fortunate to have been “adopted” by so many. Our big fundraiser – THE FALL FROLIC – is no exception. The 2013 Sponsors for the Fall Frolic on 9/28/13 were (drum roll please) :
REP. PAUL WORKMAN, DISTRICT 47
Please help by supporting these wonderful sponsors. They make up a big part of our Spicewood area and are there for all of us! THANK YOU, SPONSORS!!
